Doris's Chinese water-color painting is the product of 11 years of study
under several masters in Taipei, Taiwan. She spent twenty-five years
before that painting, weaving and working in other crafts in the United
States. Born in Switzerland, she spent twenty-eight years in Europe
and then came to the U.S. with me.
A very small sample of her Chinese water color is given below. The pages
following show much of her craft work, done in the US and with her students
in Taiwan. Start with Doris at work.
Egret alighting on pine tree.
Below is a landscape in the Ling Nan style produced as a student of Mr. Chiu Ding-Fu, who wrote the inscription. Mr. Chiu, a Taiwan master, is the teacher Doris has studied under for the longest time. This is a rather large painting (55x27 in) Doris made of her Yellow Mountain trip with Mr. Chiu and other students. I regret that my photos do not capture the brilliant light of the original.
House (below) in style of Chang Yun Ming (45x52.5 cm). Mr. Chang is a modern Taiwan master.
